문화재청(청장 최응천)은 5월 30일(화)과 31일(수) 양일간 인도네시아 자카르타에 소재한 아세안사무국에서 아세안사무국, 인도네시아 교육문화연구기술부와 공동으로 외교부의 후원을 받아 <제2차 한-아세안 문화유산 협의체 운영회의>를 개최한다.
* 아세안(Association of Southeast Asian Nations, 동남아국가연합): 말레이시아, 필리핀, 싱가포르, 인도네시아, 태국, 브루나이, 베트남, 라오스, 미얀마, 캄보디아로 구성된 준 국가연합이자 국제기구
* 한-아세안 문화유산 협의체: 한국 및 아세안 10개국, 아세안사무국 등 문화유산 관계자 24명이 참여하는 한-아세안 국가 간 문화유산 협의체

이번 회의는 지난해 11월 서울에서 발족한 ‘한-아세안 문화유산 협의체’의 후속 활동으로, 출범식 당시 진행된 제1차 운영회의에서 협의체 구성원들은 ▲ 창조산업, ▲ 역량강화 및 인적교류, ▲ 디지털 기술 활용, ▲ 공유유산 협력, ▲ 위기 및 재난관리 등 5개의 문화유산 분야에 대해 협력하기로 합의했으며, 이번 회의에서는 해당 분야에 기반하여 ‘2023 한-아세안 청년 확장현실(XR) 아이디어 공모전(부산정보산업진흥원 협력)’ 과 ‘아세안 공유유산 협력방안’ 등의 한국과 아세안의 협력사업과 협의체의 운영방향에 대해 논의한다.
한-아세안 문화유산 협의체가 이와 같이 실질적인 사업을 수행함으로써 한-아세안 간 문화유산 협력을 주도하는 실행기구로 자리매김할 것으로 기대한다.

한-인도네시아 수교 50주년을 기념하여 인도네시아에서 개최되는 이번 회의에서 문화재청은 올해 아세안 의장국인 인도네시아와 긴밀히 협력해 한-아세안 문화유산 교류협력에 대한 담론을 주도해 나갈 것이다.

향후 문화재청은 아세안 국가들이 필요로 하는 문화유산 협력사업을 추진함으로써 지난해 11월 한-아세안 정상회의에서 대통령이 발표한 ‘한-아세안 연대구상(KASI)’이 문화유산 분야에서도 성공적으로 실현될 수 있도록 노력할 것이다.

The Cultural Heritage Administration (Administrator Choi Eung-chon) of the Republic of Korea holds the 2nd Working Committee Meeting for ASEAN-ROK Cultural Heritage Cooperation at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta from May 30(Tue) to 31(Wed) in collaboration with the ASEAN Secretariat and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the ROK.

* ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations): The intergovernmental organization of ten Southeast Asian countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam
* ASEAN-ROK Working Committee on Cultural Heritage Cooperation: The inter-governmental committee composed of 24 members of cultural heritage officials from 10 ASEAN Member States, ROK, and the ASEAN Secretariat

This meeting is a follow-up activity of the “ASEAN-ROK Working Committee on Cultural Heritage Cooperation" launched in Seoul in November last year. During the 1st Working Committee Meeting held along with the inauguration ceremony last year, the members of the Committee agreed to cooperate in five pivotal areas, namely 1) promotion of creative cultural industries, 2) capacity building and personal exchanges 3) use of digital technology, 4) cooperation on shared heritage, and 5) disaster risk management.

This year’s 2nd Working Committee Meeting will discuss the future direction of the Committee and several pilot projects including the ‘2023 ASEAN-ROK Youth Metaverse Idea Contest (with Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency)’ and ‘Cooperative projects on ASEAN shared heritage.’

It is expected that the ASEAN-ROK Working Committee on Cultural Heritage Cooperation will establish itself as an operational body that leads cultural heritage cooperation between ASEAN and ROK by carrying out practical cooperative projects as mentioned above.

At this meeting, held in Indonesia to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Indonesia and ROK, the Cultural Heritage Administration will lead the discussion on cultural heritage cooperation between ASEAN and ROK through the close cooperation with Indonesia, the Chair of ASEAN this year.

The Cultural Heritage Administration will make efforts to ensure the successful realization of the ‘ASEAN-Korea Solidarity Initiative (KASI)’, announced by the President at the 23rd ASEAN-ROK Summit held in November last year, by implementing several cooperative projects that align with the demands of the ASEAN Member States.
