PPS and ADB Co-host e-Procurement Education Program for the Asia and Pacific Region
- Attended by 16 Working-Level Officials from 7 Countries, Including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, and Indonesia
- Identifying Opportunities to Enhance E-Procurement System in Their Home Countries Through Hands-on Experience with 'KONEPS'
The Public Procurement Service (PPS) Co-hosts e-Procurement Education Program for the Asia-Pacific Region with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) from June 22 to 26.
Now in its third year, the program is attended by 16 working-level officials from 7 countries selected by the ADB, including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kiribati, and Thailand.
The program is tailored to the needs of working-level officials, offering comprehensive education on Korea's public and e-procurement systems. In the initial phase, participants will share their respective country profiles to assess their current procurement levels. The mid-phase will focus on intensive training regarding Korea's procurement regulations and practical operations of the Next-Generation KONEPS. Concluding the program, participants will develop action plans to drive substantial improvements in their own procurement administrations.
Notably, by utilizing the 'Next-Generation KONEPS' system successfully launched last year, participants will gain hands-on experience covering the entire procurement lifecycle from tender notices to bid openings. Through this, they can directly compare Korea's system with their own national platforms, gain deep insights into K-procurement's operational know-how, and effectively identify areas for improvement in their home countries.
Lee Hyong-sik, Director General for Planning and Coordination, stated, "The hands-on experience with Korea's e-procurement system will serve as a practical foundation for public officials from the Asia-Pacific region to advance their own procurement administrations." He added, "We hope this training goes beyond simple capacity building and ultimately leads to enhanced transparency and efficiency in public procurement across the participating nations."
