Advanced 'K-eProcurement' Spreading Across the Asia-Pacific Region - PPS and ADB holding a first-ever hands-on e-procurement training program for "held thethe Asia-Pacific region - Knowledge of K-Public Procurement shared with 21 officials from 11 countries, including Kyrgyzstan and Sri Lanka
The Public Procurement Service (PPS) of Korea is hosting the e-Procurement Education Program for the Asia-Pacific region from August 26 to August 30, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
This training, which offers participants a firsthand experience of the acclaimed performance of Korea's e-procurement system, represented by KONEPS, involves 21 working-level e-procurement officials from 11 countries in the region.
This program, being implemented for the first time this year, is part of PPS's Official Development Assistance (ODA) initiatives in international development cooperation. It aims to introduce the nation's e-procurement and its well-structured government procurement systems to the region, laying the groundwork for the global expansion of K-Public Procurement.
The event includes curricula tailored to the needs of the regional officials attending, offering hands-on education that covers everything from the institutional background of e-procurement to actual practice. Participants will go through the full spectrum of operating KONEPS.
Additionally, the program will provide detailed instruction on the operation of KONEPS subsystems such as e-Shopping Mall and e-Ordering. After the training, the participants are expected to be equipped with the knowledge and practical experience needed to enhance e-procurement systems in their own countries.
Following this training, PPS, along with ADB, will hold a workshop to share expertise of government procurement systems and e-procurement of Korea for the first time in conjunction with the upcoming 4th Public Procurement Day in September.
This workshop will bring together high-level procurement policy makers from the Asia-Pacific region, providing them with the nation's procurement schemes and strategic know-how and, direct experience of its global leadership in public procurement.
Since 2015, PPS and ADB have operated the "Asia Pacific Public Electronic Procurement Network(APPeN)" targeting its 40 member countries to spread e-procurement across the region. * The number of the countries with e-procurement within APPeN: 12(2013) → 22(2018) → 33(2022)
PPS Administrator Lim Ki Keun stated, "The cooperation between PPS and ADB, which began in 2015 to expand electronic procurement in Asia-Pacific countries, has taken another leap in a decade. taking the lead in modernizing public procurement infrastructure in the region, going beyond focusing on e-procurement expansion."
He added, "PPS will continue to work with ADB to transfer our procurement infrastructure to the Asia-Pacific region, thereby strengthening Korea's leadership in public procurement."
