국가유산청 국립해양유산연구소(소장 김성배)와 국립고궁박물관(관장 정용재)은 7월 3일 오전 9시 30분 국립고궁박물관 대강당(서울 종로구)에서 「지속가능한 문화유산 보존(Sustainable Climate Management for Cultural Heritage)」을 주제로 국제학술대회를 개최한다.

이번 학술대회에서는 최근 국제적 화두인 기후변화에 대비하여 문화유산 보존관리를 위한 탄소배출 저감 방안과 그린뮤지엄(Green Museum) 실천 등을 선도적으로 추진하고 있는 네덜란드를 비롯하여 중국과 일본의 문화유산 보존환경 전문가들이 한자리에 모여, 지속가능한 문화유산 보존환경 현황과 첨단 기술을 활용한 예방보존 사례 등 다양한 학술 연구 성과를 공유할 계획이다.

학술대회는 총 2부로 진행되며, 구두발표와 종합토론으로 구성된다. 먼저, ‘기후변화에 따른 문화유산의 위험과 친환경 대응을 위한 도전’을 주제로 한 정용재 국립고궁박물관장의 기조강연을 시작으로, 1부에서는 ▲ 유럽 박물관의 실내환경 관리 동향(Bart Ankersmit, 네덜란드 국립문화유산연구소), ▲ 문화유산 관리: 보존환경 데이터 시각화 방안(Marc Stappers, 네덜란드 국립문화유산연구소), ▲ 한국의 문화유산 보존시설 실내환경 현황과 한국형 보존환경 가이드라인의 필요성(김서진, 국립해양유산연구소)까지 3개의 발표를 통해 네덜란드와 우리나라 문화유산 보존 시설의 실내환경 관리 현황과 흐름을 분석하고, 이를 기반으로 지속가능한 유물 관리를 위해 우리나라에 특화된 보존환경 지침(가이드라인)이 도입되어야 하는 이유에 대해 논의해보고자 한다.

이어서 진행되는 2부에서는 ▲ 중국 박물관의 환경통제와 소장품 예방보호를 위한 신기술 응용(Tang Ming, 중국 국가박물관), ▲ 기후변화에 대응하는 문화유산 보존을 위한 노력: 과거, 현재, 미래(김영재, 한국전통문화대학교), ▲ 일본 국립민족학박물관의 지속가능한 실내환경 관리를 위한 과제(Naoko Sonoda, 일본 국립민족학박물관) 연구에 대한 발표를 통해 기후변화에 대응하는 인근 동아시아 국가들의 문화유산 보존관리 사례를 비교 분석해볼 예정이다.

주제발표 후에는 정소영 국립고궁박물관 유물과학과장을 좌장으로 발표자들과 토론자 간 다양한 의견을 주고받는 종합토론을 마련하여 문화유산의 지속가능한 보존환경 관리의 현주소와 미래연구 방향을 함께 모색할 예정이다.

국가유산청 국립해양유산연구소와 국립고궁박물관은 이번 학술대회를 계기로 문화유산을 체계적으로 보존·관리하는 동시에 탄소배출 저감을 실천하는 ‘그린뮤지엄(Green Museum)’의 선두기관으로서 역할을 할 수 있도록 앞으로도 국내외의 전문가들과 지속적으로 협력하고, 활발한 활동을 이어나갈 계획이다.

The National Research Institute of Maritime Heritage (Director: Kim Seongbae), and the National Palace Museum of Korea (Director General:Chung Yong Jae), are co-hosting the international symposium on the theme of "Sustainable Climate Management for Cultural Heritage" on July 3rd at the National Palace Museum auditorium.

Conservation environment experts from the Netherlands, where efforts are underway to advance carbon emission reduction measures for cultural heritage management and promote green museums in response to the pressing global issue of climate change, along with experts from neighboring China and Japan, will gather to share academic research results on the current status of sustainable cultural heritage conservation and preventive conservation cases using advanced technologies.
* Green Museum: A museum that employs eco-friendly management practices to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions in the management and conservation of cultural heritage.

The symposium is divided into two sessions, consisting of oral presentations and discussion. Starting with the keynote talk titled 'Risks to cultural heritage due to climate change and challenges for eco-friendly response' (Chung, Yong Jae, the Director General of the National Palace Museum of Korea), the first session of the conference will feature presentations on ▲ Current climate challenges and climate management in European museums (Bart Ankersmit, Cultural Heritage Agency, the Netherlands), ▲ Collection management How we visualize the climate data? (Marc Stappers, Cultural Heritage Agency, the Netherlands), and ▲ Study on Korean museum’s indoor climate and need for the new climate guidelines of Korea (Kim, Seojin , NRIMH).

In the second session, research on ▲ Climate control and collection management using state-of-the-art technology in China (Tang Ming, National Museum of China), ▲ Conservation Efforts of Cultural Heritage to Respond Climate Change: Past, Present, and Future (Kim, Young-Jae,Korea National University of Heritage), and ▲ Challenges for sustainable indoor climate control at the National Museum of Ethnology, Japan (Naoko Sonoda, National Museum of Ethnology, Japan) will be presented.

After the presentations, panelists and presenters will engage in a comprehensive discussion chaired by Jeong So-Young, Head of the Conservation Science Department at the National Palace Museum of Korea, to delve further into the current status of conservation environment management and explore future research directions.
